Come See the Musical "Hairspray" this Weekend

Huntington High Presents Final Weekend of Broadway Musical “Hairspray”
Posted on 04/25/2018

There are only a few more opportunities to see the Huntington High School Theater Department’s production of the Broadway musical, “Hairspray”.

Where:  Huntington High School Auditorium

When:  April 26, 27, 28 at 7:30 p.m. nightly, and Sunday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m.

Big hair, big women and social commentary make up the core of the critically-acclaimed Broadway Musical, “Hairspray”.  Tracy Turnblad, a teenager living in the 1960’s Baltimore, is obsessed with the locally-produced Corny Collins Show. Every day after school, she and her best friend, Penny, run home to watch the show and drool over hunky Link Larkin, much to Tracy's mother, Edna's, dismay.

After one of the stars of the show leaves, Corny Collins holds auditions to see who the next teen regular will be. With the help of her friend Seaweed, Tracy Turnblad has all the right moves and lands the spot, angering evil dance queen, Amber Von Tussle and her mother Velma.

Tracy then decides it's not fair that black kids can only dance on the show once a month, and with the help of Seaweed, Link, Penny, Motormouth Maybelle, her father, and Edna, she's works to integrate the show, without “denting her do”.
