NASA has recognized Huntington High School for their participation in the agency’s GLOBE program.

The GLOBE program is a science education initiative comprised of institutions such as NASA and NOAA. In the spring of 2017, Huntington High School Teacher Rick Sharpe lead a group of students to study Huntington’s water as part of GLOBE.

GLOBE was incorporated into Sharpe’s teaching 11 years ago, and his students’ have been studying the waters of West Virginia ever since. The GLOBE program’s work examines flooding, pollution from natural resource collection, and other similar problems facing the Mountain State.

Sharpe will continue research in the Four Pole Creek watershed throughout 2018.
