Students to Host Dance Marathon

Huntington High School dance marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer patients
Posted on 03/15/2018

Huntington High School Seniors, Kat Graves and Griffin Conaty will host “DanceGreen” Friday, March 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM in the small gym at Huntington High School.

All teens are invited to participate, including students from other schools and homeschooled students.  Conaty and Graves have been working with Velma Chapman of Cabell Huntington Hospital in planning this event.  “We wanted to support the pediatric cancer unit in a way that would not only help the kids, but connect with high school students,” said Conaty.

Unlike a dance party, a marathon requires dancers to dance non-stop.  To keep dancers inspired they’re teaching the crowd a special “DanceGreen” line dance.  “Themes change every half hour” says Graves.  “One theme is animals and we hope to have shelter dogs visit during that time. Other themes include decades, raves, movies, plus activities like Star-Wars fun and karaoke.”

Tickets, for the dance are $10, and can be purchased at the door; or more information can be found on the students’ project website dancegreen.org.  All proceeds from the sale of the dance tickets will go to support the Pediatric Cancer Unit at the hospital.
